Overview
Druid is one of the most versatile classes in WoW: Forever. With significant changes to its talents, abilities, and shapeshifting mechanics, Feral is an excellent choice for leveling from 1 to 30.
Feral offers strong melee damage, good mobility, and excellent survivability. It also provides valuable utility through Mark of the Wild, Thorns, Entangling Roots, and powerful healing spells.
One of the biggest advantages of playing Druid is flexibility. You can deal damage in Cat Form, tank in Bear Form, and heal yourself or your party when needed. This makes Feral a great choice for both solo leveling and dungeon groups.
Strengths
Strong solo leveling and efficient single-target damage.
Excellent mobility and access to stealth through Cat Form.
Flexible gameplay with access to tanking and healing.
Strong utility and survivability.
Weaknesses
Shapeshifting consumes mana, so managing resources is important.
Your damage and efficiency depend on having an appropriate weapon.
Playing multiple roles requires understanding when to switch forms.
Talents
Arms
0 (47)Fury
0 (57)Protection
0 (55)Recommended build: 0/21/0 — Feral Combat
For leveling, Feral is the recommended specialization because it provides strong melee damage, mobility, and defensive benefits without relying heavily on mana to kill enemies.
Balance can deal damage from range but may struggle with mana efficiency, while Restoration offers strong healing at the cost of leveling speed.
Recommended talent priorities
Ferocity: Reduces the cost of key abilities in Cat Form and Bear Form, improving overall efficiency.
Heart of the Wild: Provides useful stat bonuses and improves flexibility across forms.
Feral Swiftness: Increases movement speed in Cat Form and improves survivability through dodge.
Feral Charge: Provides mobility and an opportunity to interrupt enemy spellcasting.
Sharpened Claws: Improves critical strike chance.
Savage Fury: Increases damage from key Feral abilities.
Predatory Strikes: Improves damage while shapeshifted.
Blood Frenzy: Provides additional synergy with critical strikes and other Feral talents.
Leader of the Pack: Improves critical strike potential and provides a useful group benefit.
Prioritize talents that improve your damage, reduce ability costs, and make leveling more efficient. The exact talent order can be adjusted to suit your playstyle.
*Note: This is a leveling build for the current beta environment. Check the in-game talent tooltips and the latest talent calculator before committing points, as balance changes may affect the optimal build.*
Gameplay and Main Abilities
Druid gameplay changes significantly as you unlock new abilities and forms. Understanding these progression milestones will help you level more efficiently.
Levels 1–9: Caster Form
Early on, your main damage abilities are Wrath and Moonfire.
Use Wrath when you have enough mana.
Apply Moonfire to enemies, especially when fighting multiple targets.
Use Rejuvenation to recover health between pulls or during combat when needed.
Use melee auto-attacks when conserving mana is more important than casting.
At this stage, you can efficiently manage two enemies by applying Moonfire to both and using healing spells to sustain yourself.
Levels 10–19: Bear Form
Bear Form gives you additional durability and access to Rage-based abilities, making it useful for tougher enemies and multiple-target pulls.
Your main abilities include:
Maul: A primary Rage spender for single-target damage.
Swipe: Useful for dealing damage to multiple enemies.
Demoralizing Roar: Reduces the damage dealt by nearby enemies.
Enrage: Generates Rage to help you start your Bear Form rotation.
Feral Charge: Helps you engage enemies and interrupt eligible casts.
Heal before shifting when possible, since shifting costs mana. Bear Form is especially useful when you need to survive multiple enemies or tank a dungeon.
Levels 20–30: Cat Form
Cat Form is a major leveling power spike. It provides stealth, strong melee damage, and a more energy-focused playstyle.
Your main abilities include:
Prowl: Lets you approach enemies stealthily and choose your engagements.
Shred: A strong opening attack when you can attack from behind.
Rake: Applies a damage-over-time effect.
Claw: Generates combo points and deals direct damage.
Rip: Spends combo points to deal damage over time.
Rejuvenation, Regrowth, and Healing Touch: Keep you healthy between pulls.
Try to fight one enemy at a time whenever possible. Build combo points with Claw and use Rip when the target will survive long enough for its damage over time to be worthwhile.
Major Changes
WoW: Forever introduces several changes that affect how Druids play compared with Classic Era.
1. Weapon damage matters more
Cat Form and Bear Form attacks scale with weapon damage. Upgrading your weapon is therefore an important part of maintaining your damage while leveling.
2. Energy and mana regeneration
Energy and mana regeneration occur continuously rather than only in two-second ticks. This changes resource management and makes ability timing less dependent on regeneration ticks.
3. More baseline abilities
Faerie Fire and Nature's Grasp are available without spending talent points to unlock them. This gives Druids more utility while leaving additional room for talent choices.
4. Combo points transfer between targets
Combo points can transfer between enemies. This gives you more flexibility when switching targets during combat.
5. Updated talent trees
Druid talent trees have received substantial changes, including redesigned talents, new options, and adjustments to existing effects. Feral benefits from improved flexibility and additional ways to enhance damage and survivability.
6. Polearms are available
Druids can now use polearms, giving you additional weapon options. However, prioritize actual weapon performance and relevant stats rather than weapon type alone.
7. Shapeshifting is more flexible
WoW: Forever changes several interactions involving forms, abilities, and utility. Check the current spellbook and beta notes for the latest details, since some mechanics may continue to change.
Rotation
Your rotation depends on your level and which forms you have unlocked. Rather than following a rigid sequence, focus on ability priorities and efficient resource management.
Before unlocking shapeshifts
1. Apply Moonfire to enemies.
2. Use Rejuvenation when you need healing.
3. Cast Wrath when you have sufficient mana and can safely cast.
4. Use auto-attacks to conserve mana and finish enemies.
When fighting two enemies, applying Moonfire to both can improve your damage efficiency. Avoid unnecessary healing or casting when an enemy is almost dead.
Bear Form
1. Heal before pulling if necessary.
2. Apply Moonfire to multiple enemies when appropriate.
3. Use Feral Charge when useful and when you do not need to save it for an interrupt.
4. Use Enrage to generate Rage.
5. Use Demoralizing Roar against physical enemies when its damage reduction is valuable.
6. Use Swipe against multiple enemies and Maul against a single target.
Avoid spending too much mana shifting in and out of Bear Form. Staying in Bear Form can be more efficient when fighting several enemies or taking sustained damage.
Cat Form
1. Heal before combat if needed.
2. Enter Cat Form and allow your Energy to regenerate before engaging.
3. Use Prowl to approach enemies safely.
4. Open with Shred when you can attack from behind.
5. Use Rake when the target will live long enough for its damage over time to matter.
6. Use Claw to generate combo points.
7. Spend combo points on Rip when the target has enough health remaining for the effect to be worthwhile.
Important: Ferocious Bite is not part of the standard level 1–30 rotation if it has not yet been learned. At level 30, prioritize Rip as your main Cat Form finisher.
Races
WoW: Forever expands Druid race options compared with traditional Classic. The main choices are Tauren, Night Elf, and Skyborne, with Skyborne racial abilities varying by faction.
Horde
Tauren
Tauren are a strong all-around choice for leveling.
War Stomp provides crowd control and creates opportunities to cast spells.
Endurance provides additional health and, according to the current beta changes, an increased hit chance.
Plainsrunning rewards continuous movement and can improve travel speed.
Their racial utility also makes them appealing for gathering professions.
Tauren are an excellent choice if you value survivability, utility, and efficient leveling.
Skyborne
Horde Skyborne gain access to Walk on Air, which prevents fall damage, along with increased haste and bonus damage against elementals. Their faction-specific racial also provides additional movement speed.
Skyborne are worth considering if you prefer their mobility and racial utility, although Tauren remain a strong general recommendation.
Alliance
Night Elf
Night Elf offers strong offensive potential through Elune's Light, which increases critical strike chance for a limited duration.
Elune's Light provides a powerful offensive cooldown.
Shadowmeld offers additional utility.
Quickness provides increased movement speed in the current beta.
Night Elf is an attractive choice for players who value burst damage and offensive potential, especially in longer fights where racial cooldowns can be used effectively.
Skyborne
Alliance Skyborne share Walk on Air, increased haste, and bonus damage against elementals with their Horde counterparts. Their faction-specific racial, Read Ley Line, restores health and mana.
Read Ley Line can be particularly useful during leveling by reducing downtime between pulls. However, its value for Feral is more situational than it is for mana-intensive specializations.
Race recommendation: Tauren is a strong general choice for Horde, while Night Elf is a solid Alliance option. Choose Skyborne if you prefer their mobility or resource-management utility.
Tips and Tricks
Manage your mana
Mana is one of the most important resources to manage while leveling. Healing and shapeshifting can quickly drain your mana pool, even when your damage rotation uses Energy or Rage.
Try to group your healing and other mana-consuming spells together, then remain in your current form while mana regenerates. Remember that mana regeneration outside the five-second rule generally becomes more effective after you stop spending mana for five seconds.
Upgrade your weapon regularly
Because Feral attacks scale with weapon damage in WoW: Forever, weapon upgrades can have a noticeable impact on your performance.
Compare weapon damage and DPS when choosing upgrades, and do not assume that a weapon with higher item level is automatically better.
Use your forms strategically
Caster Form: Healing, buffs, and ranged spells.
Bear Form: Survivability, tanking, and multiple-target combat.
Cat Form: Stealth, mobility, and efficient single-target damage.
Avoid shapeshifting unnecessarily. Each shift costs mana, so plan your transitions around combat and recovery.
Keep your buffs active
Maintain Mark of the Wild on yourself and your party. Apply Thorns to characters who are likely to be hit, particularly tanks.
Thorns can contribute to threat on the character receiving the buff, so coordinate its use with your tank when running dungeons.
Visit your trainer regularly
New abilities and ranks become available as you level. Check your class trainer regularly, particularly after gaining several levels, to make sure you are not missing important upgrades.
Choose your fights carefully
Cat Form makes it easier to control your engagements through Prowl. Use stealth to avoid unnecessary enemies and approach targets from a favorable position.
When fighting multiple enemies, consider switching to Bear Form if the additional durability outweighs the damage and mana costs of changing forms.
Recommended stat priority
Strength > Agility = Stamina > Intellect > Spirit
Strength: Improves melee attack power and is a strong damage stat.
Agility: Provides offensive and defensive benefits, including additional attack power in Cat Form under the relevant mechanics.
Stamina: Increases health and helps you survive difficult pulls.
Intellect: Increases your mana pool, giving you more room for healing and shapeshifting.
Spirit: Supports mana and health regeneration, but generally offers less immediate value for a Feral leveling build.
Treat this as a general leveling priority rather than a strict rule for every item. Weapon upgrades, item-specific effects, and the current beta's balance changes can influence your best gear choices.
---
Final recommendation: Feral is a strong and flexible leveling specialization in WoW: Forever. Use Cat Form for efficient single-target damage, Bear Form when survivability matters, and your healing spells to minimize downtime. Keep your weapon updated, manage mana carefully, and adjust your build as the beta evolves.
