For the Ranged training guide, see Ranged training.

Ranged is one of the skills in Runescape: Dragonwilds, is one of the three combat styles, and was released in 0.9. Fighting monsters using ranged combat levels a player's Ranged to gain various bonuses that enhance their effectiveness with the skill.
Players use Ranged weapons in combat to earn Ranged experience. The higher the tier of the weapons and ammo used, the higher the base damage and, thus, the more experience earned.
In addition, players can gain experience from Ranged Skill Tomes and special reward tomes like the Tome of the Dragon Slayer.
Weapons
Ranged Weapons can be divided into three major classifications:
- Longbows require arrows and must be drawn while aiming, providing players with an advantage in long-range combat. Fully drawing the bow takes more time than shortbows but provides higher base damage and an additional damage bonus. Attacking without aiming will instead use a melee-based attack to push away close enemies.
- Shortbows require arrows and can be drawn without aiming, allowing players to release arrows in close combat quickly. Shortbows have lower base damage than their longbow counterparts but have an increased firing rate.
- Crossbows require bolts, are optimal at short distances, and fire quicker than shortbows. They are also a one-handed ranged weapon, allowing players to utilise shields to parry.
Ammunition
- Arrows are used with bows and can be modified to apply Debuffs. Weapon barbs applies Bleed.Weapon poison applies Poison.Fire oil applies Burn.
- Bolts are used with crossbows and can be enchanted with gems using Magic for added effects. Enchanted bronze bolts use opals and provide a chance to apply a knockdown effect.Enchanted blurite bolts use jades and provide a chance to apply an area-of-effect damage.Enchanted iron bolts use jades and provide a chance to apply a knockdown effect.Enchanted steel bolts use red topaz and provide a chance to recover health.Enchanted mithril bolts use sapphire and provide a chance to poison all nearby enemies.
Armour
Ranged armour provides a base defensive stat but also provides a stacking passive bonus, the more of the same combat type (i.e., melee, ranged, mage) you equip. Players can mix and match within that type. For example, a player wearing a ranger hat (ranged), green dragonhide body (ranged), and white platelegs (melee) will get the second tier of ranged set bonuses and the first tier of melee set bonuses. The ranged armour set bonuses are:
- 1/3 +40% stealth speed
- 2/3 -33% ranged attack stamina cost
- 3/3 +25% weak point damage
Boosts
Players can eat food or equip trinkets to increase Ranged experience received or damage dealt.
Unlike most other skills however, there are no Ranged potions, whether to increase experience or damage.
- Sweet veg ball - Grants a 10% XP boost for 5 minutes (300 seconds)
- Wild pie - Grants a 10% XP boost for 10 minutes (600 seconds)
- Inspiring amulet of Ranged - Provides a 5% XP boost for Ranged while worn
- Amulet of accuracy - Increases critical damage by 12.5% while worn
- Unholy symbol - Increases all damage by 15% while lowering maximum HP by 15 points.
- Amulet of glory - Increases critical damage to all combat style
Experience mechanics
Players who deal regular damage will receive 0.25×damagedealt experience depending on the maximum health of the enemy. Players who deal critical damage will receive 0.5×damagedealt experience, depending on the maximum health of the enemy. For example, if a player deals 88 regular damage to a chicken, the player will only receive 5 Ranged experience, since the maximum health of the chicken is 20 hitpoints (20 hitpoints x .25 experience factor = 5 experience).

- The maximum level increased from 50 to 99.
- The Ranged skill has been released to the live game.
- Ranged projectiles should be displayed correctly.
Trivia
- Before the 0.9 update, this skill did not have a skill tree. While there did exist ranged weapons, the only way to level up this skill was by finding skill tomes. This is similar to the Magic skill prior the 0.8 update.
