Skullsplitter

Skullsplitter

Skullsplitter is a power level 3 one-handed weapon that can be crafted using a blacksmith's bench. The recipe is learned by consuming the vestige remnants of a shattered skull, received randomly as a drop from killing garou berserkers at a 1/50 drop rate. It can be ascended at the mystic forge using ascension cores.

Its special effect is +15% critical strike chance, which equates to an average 1.0375x damage increase. However, that assumes that the critical strike chance never goes over 100%, which would be wasted. Currently, the base chance is 10%, the 2/3 melee armour set bonus provides 50% after a block, and the lesser Attack potion provides 25%, equaling 85% before adding the Skullsplitter's 15%.

This weapon has slightly higher base damage than the goblin "Swingslash" but slightly lower than the zombie axe at equivalent power levels. The zombie axe, however, deals both crush and slash damage, making it worse against enemies weak to crush but resistant to slash (including skeletal hoplites, zogres, black knight warriors, black knight guardians, and the black knight titan). For those enemies specifically, this is the best one-handed crush weapon to ascend.

Journal

The following text is transcribed from the Journal.

Garou children would often play pretend at great, epic battles. They would create their own stories, true, but they enjoyed reenacting the battle of legend, and no character was more popular than King Raluh, the mighty.

Pups would wander into the forests in search of the sturdiest stick they could find and then announce to the other children that they were the king, and this stick that most legendary of weapons - Skullsplitter.

As the legends go, King Raluh had been granted a weapon by the Moon Goddess, Lougrim. A weapon capable of destroying any foe. Armour was as paper to Skullsplitter and fables had him crush the bones of villain and monster alike.

It is, therefore, no surprise that as the garou pups mature, they create weapons to match the legends, and garou warriors wield mighty maces carrying that mythical name. Though the true Skullsplitter may just be a story, these powerful imitations are no less deadly.
