Journal
The following text is transcribed from the Journal.
One of the first weapons ever created, the Stone Dagger has a sinister history. At first, it allowed early humans, dwarves, elves and other intelligent species to thrive. They could take down prey and feast on the spoils, using the dagger to pare down the kill, making it easier to eat. It created the gap between animals and people, the first step toward civilization. It’s also the first tool to lead to murder. A young man whose name has long been forgotten once created a dagger of glittering black stone. Pleased with his work, he displayed it proudly, earning the admiration and envy from those around him. So proud was he of the dagger that he would whisper to it, acting as though it would whisper back. On the day he slit the chieftain’s throat, he claimed that the dagger had told him to do it. Fortunately, most Stone Daggers are pleasingly silent.
