01Overview

This article is about the crafting material made from Anima-Infused Bark. For the decoration, see Wild Anima (Decoration).

Wild Anima is an important magical crafting material in RuneScape: Dragonwilds. It is closely tied to the anima-rich regions of Ashenfall and becomes especially valuable once you unlock stronger magical equipment, potions, and advanced recipes.

Unlike many resources, Wild Anima is not a normal world drop. Collect Anima-Infused Bark around special trees in the Fractured Plains, then process it into Wild Anima at a Kiln.

This guide covers where to find Wild Anima, how to craft it, farming tips, and every major use.

02What Is Wild Anima?

Wild Anima is a magical Tier 2 crafting material used across many recipes in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.

It represents raw magical energy found throughout Ashenfall. In lore, Anima consists of magical motes that can be gathered and refined. Wild Anima is especially useful for magical equipment and other anima-powered crafts.

Once you reach the Fractured Plains, collecting Anima-Infused Bark should become part of your regular gathering loop — especially for magic builds or higher-tier recipes.

03How to Get Wild Anima

The main way to obtain Wild Anima is by processing Anima-Infused Bark.

The process is straightforward:

  1. Fractured PlainsTravel to the Fractured Plains.
  2. Anima TreeFind the large Anima-infused trees.
  3. Anima-Infused BarkCollect Anima-Infused Bark from the ground around them.
  4. Return to your base.
  5. KilnProcess the bark in a Kiln.
  6. Wild AnimaUse 4 Anima-Infused Bark to create 1 Wild Anima.

Wild Anima is not a resource you simply pick up while exploring — gather its precursor first.

05Where to Find Anima-Infused Bark

The most reliable place to find Anima-Infused Bark is the Fractured Plains.

This is one of the first major areas where Ashenfall's anima-infused environment is impossible to miss. Special Anima Trees stand out because of their unusual size and colorful appearance.

Look around the bases of these trees for bark on the ground. You do not need to chop down the tree — approach the resource and interact with it to pick it up.

What Do Anima Trees Look Like?

Anima Trees are considerably larger and more unusual than ordinary trees. Colorful foliage makes them easy to recognize once you know what to look for.

The highest concentration of Anima-Infused Bark is around the central and eastern Fractured Plains, with more toward the southeastern edge near the Stormtouched Highlands.

The Fractured Plains is dangerous — prepare gear and supplies before a dedicated farming trip.

06Best Way to Farm Wild Anima

Farm Anima-Infused Bark in batches instead of returning to the Fractured Plains for a single Wild Anima. Since four bark make one Wild Anima, fill your inventory before heading home.

A solid farming routine:

Travel to Fractured Plains → locate several Anima Trees → collect nearby bark → move to another group → return to base → process bark in your Kiln.

Anima-Infused Bark sits on the ground around distinctive trees and does not require a harvesting tool.

Bring Enough Supplies

The Fractured Plains is not an early-game farming zone. Enemies can make gathering much harder if you arrive under-geared.

For a dedicated Wild Anima run, bring food, healing supplies, and solid equipment. If you prefer to avoid fights, use mobility: grab bark quickly and move between spots.

07What Is Wild Anima Used For?

Wild Anima shows up in a surprisingly large set of recipes — magical equipment, potions, defensive gear, crafting stations, and even some construction.

Current databases list Wild Anima as an ingredient for items including:

Exact quantities vary by recipe.

09Wild Anima for Magic Builds

If you build around magic, Wild Anima is especially important. Magical items that need it include the Blightwood Battlestaff, Magical Focus, and Wizard equipment.

It is also used for the Lesser Magic Potion, which grants the Focused Casting effect and increases critical hit chance with combat spells.

Keep Wild Anima in reserve if magic is part of your progression plan.

10Wild Anima and the Staff of Light

One of the more notable recipes using Wild Anima is the Staff of Light.

The Staff of Light requires:

Advanced gear can require several Wild Anima at once — stockpile rather than gathering only what you need for the next craft.

11Wild Anima and the Anti-Dragon Shield

Wild Anima is not limited to offensive magic. The Anti-Dragon Shield also requires Wild Anima, alongside Blightwood, Hard Leather, Opal, Vault Shards, and a Vault Core.

That makes Wild Anima useful for dragon-related progression even if you are not primarily a mage.

12Wild Anima for Potions

Wild Anima also appears in potion crafting. For example, the Lesser Magic Potion requires:

The potion grants Focused Casting, increasing critical hit chance with combat spells for its duration — another reason to gather more Wild Anima than your next gear upgrade needs.

13How Much Wild Anima Should You Keep?

There is no need to convert every piece of Anima-Infused Bark into Wild Anima unless you need it for a specific recipe. Keep a healthy supply of both materials.

Magical equipment, crafting stations, and advanced recipes burn through Wild Anima quickly. The Staff of Light alone needs eight. Make dedicated Fractured Plains trips whenever your stock runs low.

14Wild Anima vs. Anima-Infused Bark

These materials are easy to confuse, but they serve different roles.

Anima-Infused Bark is the raw resource you collect in the Fractured Plains.

Wild Anima is the refined crafting material made by processing four bark in a Kiln.

15Is Wild Anima Worth Farming?

Yes. Once you reach the Fractured Plains, Wild Anima is one of the more important materials to farm. It feeds multiple progression paths — magic gear, defensive items, and potions.

Gathering is simple: no special tools for bark. The real challenge is reaching the right part of Ashenfall and collecting safely. If you are already in the Fractured Plains, pick up every Anima-Infused Bark you see — process it later when you need Wild Anima.

16Wild Anima Farming Tips

  • Look for large, colorful Anima Trees rather than ordinary trees.
  • Search around the base of the trees for Anima-Infused Bark.
  • Do not waste tools on the trees — bark is collected from the ground.
  • Farm several trees in one trip to make the journey worthwhile.
  • Process four bark at a time in your Kiln.
  • Keep spare Wild Anima in storage — many advanced recipes use it.
  • Prioritize Wild Anima for magic builds, since several magical items require it.
  • Prepare for combat before entering the Fractured Plains if you are under-geared.

17Final Thoughts

Wild Anima is a key progression material in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, especially for magic, advanced equipment, and higher-tier crafting.

Getting it is simple once you know the loop: find Anima-Infused Bark around special trees in the Fractured Plains, collect four pieces, and process them in a Kiln to create one Wild Anima.

From Wizard gear and magical weapons to the Staff of Light, Anti-Dragon Shield, potions, and crafting stations, Wild Anima stays useful long after you first find it. Make gathering Anima-Infused Bark part of every Fractured Plains trip — a good stockpile saves dangerous return journeys later.

19Journal

The following text is transcribed from the Journal.

Magic is made up of motes of anima, refined and collected into specific forms. Rune essence can be made to hold these motes, creating dedicated magical components for spells and enchantments. Wild anima is useful for magical construction, but cannot be converted into true spellcraft, as the motes are unaligned and prone to strange reactions.
