Hunter Stagbow

weapon

Hunter Stagbow

The hunter stagbow is a power level 4 longbow that can be crafted at a fletching bench. The recipe is learned by consuming a string of sinew, a vestige dropped by garou hunters with a 3/100 drop chance. It can be ascended at the mystic forge using ascension cores.

Its special effect is 10% increased draw speed, making this weapon draw faster than other longbows. Currently, the effect is listed as "+10% Draw Time" which makes it sound like it draws slower, but previously the effect was called "+10% Draw Time Reduction" which, although being a bit of a mouthful, was at least correct.

This weapon also has higher base damage than other longbows, but it increases far more than others when ascended, to the point where it has more than 50% higher base damage than other longbows at power level 7. For reference, it has 152 at power level 7 while the bow of Elidinis has 102 and Ulv's longbow only has 100. That combined with its faster draw speed makes this is the ideal longbow to ascend, but that massively increased base damage may not be intended.

Journal

The following text is transcribed from the Journal.

Gahl was a garou druid who lost everyone he knew. In the wars inflicted on his people by the other races of Ashenfall, he grew jaded with the cruelty he saw all around him. This reached its peak when he found a garou village in ruins and goblins dancing and laughing as they threatened a newly born pup, in her crib. The village is gone now, dragged beneath the soil. Gahl’s vengeance unleashed upon the goblins, erasing them from existence. He took the child as his own and raised her in a way alien to his people – he raised her with love. She had no talent for magic, and could not learn his druid spells, so he taught her how to hunt with a bow, and she was a natural. Dahnu, as he named her, made a bow out of the first deer she and her father had hunted and that bow became a symbol to all she encountered. In time she would claim a king’s seat. Defeating the prior monarch with reason and wit. Charming him out of his power and offering her people another way. Her people thrived, making her father proud. Until Velgar brought her reign to an end.
